ATGames Flashback Zone confirmed on Twitter, following the announcement of the SEGA Mega Drive Mini, that the system will be using "new and improved technology" it has designed.

"The rumors are true! Sega is going to release the Mega Drive Mini in Japan, powered by the latest AtGames technology. This same new and improved technology will find its way into the US and other territories later this year!" said ATGames in the Tweet that has since been deleted.

Righto, so basically only buy this if you don't give a rats ass about what the games originally sounded like or played like in a lot of cases.

ATgames couldn't emulate a powered off megadrive correctly, it would probably randomly power on and bleep at you in the wrong tone.

I suspected as much given their statements just before the unveiling. I'll wait and see how accurate it is and what features it offers before deciding whether or not to get it.

I hope we get a new mix of games and not just the same old list.

Sega, you have forsaken me. For the last time. I will not be buying this piece of junk.

No longer interested in this. At Games is terrible and Sega shouldn't have commissioned them for this. What a way to ruin an announcement.

Oh, so they might just use a Raspberry Pi and get a license for a good Megadrive emulator? Let's hope that's the case.
