Nintendo to Host Smash Bros. for Switch Invitational and Splatoon 2 World Championships During E3 2018 - News

Nintendo announced it will be hosting two tournaments during E3 2018 - the Super Smash Bros. for Switch Invitational and the Splatoon 2 World Championship.

The tournaments will be livestreamed on Nintendo's official YouTube and Twitch channels. Both will take place on June 11 and 12.

Splatoon 2 is out now for the Nintendo Switch, while Super Smash Bros. for Switch will launch later this year.

They aren't calling it "SSB for Switch" though. If they had used those exact words and all in italics you could be sure it was a port, but they just call it "Super Smash Bros.", like in the Direct. You almost had me doubt it was a new game there. :-P

The Switch SSB will be a new game. We´re not sure, though, if the Invitational will be played with the new game or SSB 4.

They just called it "Super Smash Bros" in the vid.

Besides, I don't see why they'd be so vague if it was a port. If it ends up being a port there will be a lot of pissed off people.

True, but I would think they would want to make it clear if it was a new game as that would bring more hype.

I'd be highly surprised if it wasn't. Although they could end up showing off Pokemon Switch so you never know...
