The 3DS is still doing really well if it's been able its YoY numbers with the Switch around. I wonder how long it's going to take until the Switch fully replaces the handheld.

Seeing the 3DS do well, it made me realize that I would love a mini Switch without detachable controller or a touch screen. They could sell it for $149.99 and make a killing.

The 3DS is killing it. Best december since 2014. It is not going to get killed off soon. Oh and the Switch is Realking™.

Nintendo have to innovate to stay relevant and when they make it work they are really unstoppable. The WiiU was just an unfortunate stumble (bad name, bad marketing, gimmicky controller and nothing more), whereas the Switch is an innovative product, bridging the gap between home consoles and handhelds. I am happy that Nintendo are successful - We, as gamers, need a strong Nintendo!

Brilliant for the industry, it becomes a bit boring when Sony get it all their own way. Competition pushes all three to do better.

So what were the sales of the final week of the year? VGC only has info up until the 23rd. Did Switch reach 12 million by year's end?

I can do without the hubris in the comments. That said, I'm surprised by the 3ds sales figures. It still has some life in it.

I hope they don't take this for granted considering their situation not too long ago.

Yeah, because MS isn't competition at all.

I wasn't being sarcastic there. MS is weak competition. Gamers deserve better.
