Developer Team Meat announced the sales of the Nintendo Switch version of Super Meat Boy in its first day came really close to the Xbox 360 debut in 2010.

The developer didn't reveal any specific figures, however, they did add that the Switch is a more friendly platform for indie games.

There is more than enough to choose from now yet certain indies keep selling better on the Switch. Seems like the "there's nothing else to play" argument is no longer true.

I trully, deeply love Meat Boy, but half the game is the soundtrack, which seems to have been replaced :/. I would buy it again (would be my third time) with the original score

The sales are really impressive here. I wonder if this would justify a retail release that included the original game and the new one coming up. The interest is there, it seems.

Having seen "Indie Game: The Movie", which states that first day figures were close to 20,000, we can estimate Switch sales to be in that ballpark.

Nearly?

Little do people know that they're buying a inferior game due to the original soundtrack being replaced with something much, much worse. I own both versions (got the newer one free from Tommy himself) and the new music is awful.

Its portable and thats all that matters for many people

That's sad as fuck if true.

What's sadder is calling a game inferior when only the soundtrack is a bit different.

Try watching Halloween 1 or playing OOT with your TV on mute and then come back here and tell me soundtracks don't matter. The soundtrack is not "a bit different"... it's an entirely different sound track composed by an entirely different person.

Most people will tell you who's played both versions, it's awful.

The muting your TV argument is nonsensical. It's virtually the same game. The soundtrack is different and that's it, It's not on you to decide which is worse. I actually kind of like it, and I played multiple versions of the game.

It's on me to decide whatever the hell I want to decide lol. You have your opinion and I have mine. I have the 360 version and the Wii U version and I fucking hate the new soundtrack so much that I don't even play it. It's an insult along the lines of Crazy Taxi removing the Offspring when they re-released it.

Some games are defined by their music as much as their gameplay and Super Meat Boy was one such game.

Of course you can decide what you want, I never claimed you couldn't. Left field buddy. I don't really care, since it's all opinion based. I just thought it was stupid to call people sad for wanting the game because it's portable. You're bringing others down because you think your opinion is more important IE: the soundtrack. Nevermind the fact that the artist didn't want to license out anymore, so there was nothing else they could do, but I actually prefer some tracks over the old one.

The game is actually pretty good as a portable game. The Vita (same soundtrack btw) was a good fit.
