Switch is Nintendo's Fastest-Selling Console of All Time in Italy - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 10 January 2018 / 3,092 Views

Nintendo Italy announced sales for the Switch have been "exceptional" in Italy.

The Switch is now the fastest-selling Nintendo console of all time in the country, overtaking the Wii's first ten months on store shelves.

Nintendo Italy General Manager Andrea Persegati stated that sales for the Switch have been satisfying and is confident the success of the console will continue throughout 2018. He mentioned upcoming releases of Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta 2, Dragon Quest Builders, and a new Yoshi game that will help keep sales high, along with the already released The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2

This news comes less than a week after Nintendo of America announced the Switch was the fastest-selling console in the US in its first 10 months having sold 4.8 million units.

Thanks DualShockers.

In reality Switch is selling very well here but not likely PS4 did at launch and doing now. It's the best selling Nintendo console not the best selling console in general. PS4 did way better (with what I saw in first person).

What's unbelievable about a Nintendo console doing good in Italy? You act like this is the first time it happen. You have no idea how massive the DS and GBA were there, i was a kid but i rememb it.

Playstation still dominate this country, which does not stop Nintendo from doing good too.

Shubham@vgc (on 10 January 2018)

The Wii sold around 115k his first 10 months of sales. So Switch is over that. For who ask about PS4, it was at ~210k in 9 months... So yeah, it could be close for what we know ( since can be anything above 115k ) but probabily no lol. PS4 is just too big there.

Gamer147 (on 10 January 2018)

Of course. They love Mario lol.

@LivingMetal
X-Box is pretty cool. It has EA Access and great Bethesda mods. XBox Game Pass also allows playing games off the hard drive too!

Being the bestselling NINTENDO console is a loooong way of being the bestselling CONSOLE after ten months of all time in Italy. PS has that by miles. Good job by Nintendo anyway.

Proud owner of it :3
