Glad Nintendo has good multi-player options this gen. They usually do, just glad they are continuing to.

The fact there's no gyro-aiming option kinda kills it for me. If they add the feature in the future, I may get it.

KLAMarine (on 10 November 2017)

Back to Bethesda.net for me. I'm going to push gyro-aiming wherever I can.

Demanding special features on games that you're lucky to even get ported to Switch? C'mon now, that just doesn't make sense.

@ALA
Bethesda wants my money so I'm going to ask for features. Surely gyro-aiming can't be too difficult to implement.

Asking for features is fine, but demanding them for a purchase? It seems like borderline hypocrisy to me that the Nintendo community is always accusing third parties of not having good enough ports, saying that the poor sales are deserved because of the port quality. Yet when a company steps up to the base and does what the community has supposedly wanted for years, people won't buy it because they don't do Nintendo like Nintendo does Nintendo! Not every company is going to implement gyro controls, they've done their part. If they add it in later great, if they don't so what. Don't be that guy.

@Angrylittlealchemist. There are a lot of people who consider playing shooters with a regular controller is a very slow and tedious process, that's why the genre has been traditionally grounded in PCs until Halo/CoD. And ina game as fast-paced as Doom, you can't just stop, move the camera and shoot, because by the time you've done so, the imp has moved elsewhere. Gyroaiming is a very useful tool to break that controller barrier, and make the gameplay way more fluid. it's a shame it's not a more popular feature, can't the Dualshock4 and the XBOne Controller do gyro too?

I should clarifying that I'm not talking about you specifically KLA, not even Darwin necessarily. Just people who hesitate to buy it because it's not up to their gyro standards.

@Angrylittlealchemist. Oh, don't worry, I understand your point too. This port must have been quite a difficult task to pull off, and it'd be a shame if it bombed due to lack of support. But like I said before elsewhere, I can't play shooters on consoles, and I find well implemented motion controls the perfect way to solve that.

No one is doubting that it's a better control method. I still play FPS's on PC because that's the best control method. But you're rationalizing a purchase based on a feature that's not even close to the standard. You're a console player, you know how to aim a controller and move at the same time. You can do this, we know you can. Millions of other people did with the original release of DOOM. In no way am I advocating for a worse control system, i'm advocating for some common sense. Asking for a feature in an update, fine. But demanding it for a purchase? People have gotten use to controllers since Halo, I know you can too.

@Angrylittlealchemist. Actually, no. I'm a PC gamer first and foremost. The only consoles that I've consistently bought and played are handhelds, which are definitively not the most well known platforms for shooters. Trying to play a game that needs extensive and simultaneous aiming and quick movements without keyboard is a massive pain. I would only be able to play it in the lower difficulties, where challenge is quite gimped.

* keyboard and mouse.

I mean, okay, fair enough. I don't really think that changes what I've said, though. It just seems like this is one of the first quality ports we've gotten in a while, but because Nintendo built a gyro system into all their controllers, now all the sudden that is the standard the game should set. After chanting we want great ports, it is disappointing to see people not support one because of a nearly-exclusive Nintendo feature.

"Asking for features is fine, but demanding them for a purchase?"

Yes. De's money is De's money. He spends it as he sees fit. This has nothing to do with what fanbase he's a part of.

@Angrylittlealchemist. I know. And, again, I hope it does well. But, at least for me, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it as much as if it had that feature. And I'm still paying full price, so I'd like to get as much enjoyment from my purchase as I can.

@KLAMarine you're right, it's not about fanbase. If the PS4 and Xbox One had a killer app like Splatoon that took advantage of gyro control we'd see them demand for it too, but that didn't happen unfortunately and now it isn't a standard.

@Darwin ... I mean fair enough ... It's your money, that's fair. I think there's just better ways to push a standard than to force a company into it. Hopefully 5 years in the future gyro control will be a standard(or at least an option)

KLAMarine (on 10 November 2017)

I hope it becomes a standard. I love gyro-aiming: having two sensitivities beats having only one.

I'm not much into FPS but this one seemed fun so decided to buy it. It is a good game but gyro-aiming would've definitively made the game so much better imo.

That made me feel all funny in the pants. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
