September was a strong month for new releases. In the UK the gaming market was up 156 percent month-on-month and up 16 percent when compared to September 2016.

Despite only being on store shelves for two days, FIFA 18 was the best-selling game for the month. 60 percent of the sales were on the PlayStation 4 and 37 percent on the Xbox One.

Destiny 2 debuted in second place. Monthly sales for the game are down 50 percent compared to the first game. NBA 2K18 debuted in fifth with sales up 28.5 percent year-on-year.

Here are the top 10 best-selling games in September in the UK:

  1. FIFA 18 (EA) - NEW
  2. Destiny 2 (Activision) - NEW
  3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (Sony)
  4. Forza Horizon 3 (Microsoft)
  5. NBA 2K18 (Take-Two) - NEW
  6. Grand Theft Auto V (Take-Two)
  7. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Activision)
  8. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle (Ubisoft) - NEW
  9. F1 2017 (Codemasters)

The PS4 version sold 62% more than the XBO version (60/37=1.62). That's quite a big difference from the 29% more it did with FIFA 17 first week (53/41=1.29). Do anyone know what cause the shift in marketshare? I don't think it can be fully explained just from the installbase.

Even if Destiny 2 is a much better game than the original, its still gonna suffer from the original being a mess riddled with DLC. If you bought Destiny and all the expansions at launch then you probably spent about 200 bucks.

I'm waiting for price cuts before I get Destiny 2.

FIFA will definitely beat Destiny lifetime, but you're probably right about September since FIFA only had two days.

Well, it's not like Destiny 2 is a super original and flawless game either.
