Final Fantasy XV Tops 6.5 Million Units Sold - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 18 September 2017 / 6,767 ViewsFinal Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata in an interview with GameSpot revealed the game sold now sold over 6.5 million units.
"From a business standpoint, we've achieved over 6.5 million units, and the fact that we're still going to be putting out content till the launch of the Windows Edition--and then we have the Pocket Edition--this project has been very successful for us," said Tabata.
"But from a personal level, and from a dev team standpoint, what really resonates with us is the fan feedback we got from the day one release. A lot of the major criticisms was that they felt the story was lacking in certain aspects. So for us, we did our best to give back and supplement those areas where people felt it was lacking.
"When those fans who were complaining about the story from the early days are now completely satisfied with the overall experience, that's the moment when we can say as a team that we're pleased with what we did for Final Fantasy XV. And obviously, we don't plan to draw this out forever. At some point we're going to have to mark the end of the journey for Final Fantasy XV. With that said, we're still listening to what the fans want and expect for this game."

Of course it was lacking. To understand the "story" you need 3 DLCs, mini anime series, and a movie. I hope they learn from this, and never release a product like this again.
Pretty sure they didn't force you to buy any of that. I completed the game before any of it came out, haven't even bothered with the DLC myself.
@Dyllyo the movie and anime came out far before the game launched anywhere in the world. July for the movie and March until Sep for the anime. Doubt you played it 'before any of it came out'
Excellent. Will overtake 13 soon.
Didn't they want 10 million? They'd be better off making 16 and 17 than trying to milk this, because I'm not interested in this.
Yes...yes they are...
Massive success and will no doubt sell much more
Now Switch, please (obligatory comment)
All things considered, kind of low for what this game is. Still, will probably sell another 1.5 by the end of the generation.
PC sales still to come. Should hopefully pull at least 500k on PC.
Oh the fan base is "completely satisfied" with the storytelling is it? News to me. Last I checked people were still waiting on more dlcs and cutscenes to fix your massive holes. They also need to quit bullshitting. Day One editions abound at every retailer. They haven't sold that many. It's obvious just going into a store, or shopping online.
4.8 million on PS4 and only 900k for Xbox One. I'd don't get why the keep releasing these games for Xbox also. The fanbase just isn't there.
Probably sold over a million on X1 and still selling. That's enough sales to justify a port.
@Angelv577 - The sales potential for PC and Xbox seem at par, but its cheaper and easier to get a game on PC. In my opinion, MS needs to make it easier for Japanese developer to get a game on Xbox kinda like Steam.
