343 Industries and Microsoft have announced Halo 5 will be getting an update to support 4K with the release of the Xbox One X.

The list of Xbox 360 backward compatible titles on the Xbox One will be growing later this year with support for Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: CE Anniversary.

I dont think everybody is happy with how MCC handles multiplayer so the 360 versions on X1 is great news. That should also improve frame rates to a more solid 30 fps.

Halo 5 really struggles technically to stay locked at 60 fps. Most noticeable in large maps like Warzone modes. I'm curious to see what X1X does for it.

It's going to be the most dynamic of dynamic resolutions we'll have seen to date I wager, from a break down of Halo 5
"In Halo 5, X and Y values are adjusted independently enabling a wide range of values designed to maximize performance. The lowest recorded value we find is 1152x810"

That's just over 900k pixels, or less than half required for 1080p, 4k would be asking the X to push over 8million pixels, as in a leap of almost 9 times what the original Xbox 1 model was doing in this game... that machine is not 9 times more capable than the original model, it's just silly to think this will be anywhere near locked true 4k.

Well yeah, it will depend on the mode. The most resource intensive mode is Warzone, that's where the low resolutions are most evident. I'm guessing that mode could do an average of 1440p - 1800p on X1X, that would be massive upgrade though.

While campaign and standard PvP modes will do 1800p - 4K.

Given this makes sacrifices to stay locked at 60 fps, I don't anticipate 4K.

4k 60FPS should be achievable for the most part. The average resolution was 1344x1080, which is slightly higher than 900p.

Much like Titanfall 2 it will do 4K. But at resource intensive moments or modes there will be resolution dips.

Either way, Halo 5 should be one of the titles where X1X improvments is most apparent.

Barozi that's still an average of 1.4m pixels asking a jump to 8m, I mean it's almost a factor of 6 times the amount, do you really believe the X to be 6x the power of the original machine? or do you think there will be concessions made such as checkerboarding and such?

Puggsly, I don't doubt that the game will be beautiful looking on the new machine, I'm just saying looking at the numbers from the base system I don't see how consistent 4k would be possible, maybe in some areas, but it won't be this true 4k which was being chucked about at e3 I feel, I'm always open to be happily proved wrong :D

It wont be a consistent 4K based on what we know. But given that game can dip down to around 720p pixel count, it was never expected.

The real question how well can it maintain 4K and in what modes. While Warzone will probably range from 1440p to 4K.

Interesting. This game will look beautiful in 4k. Game looks amazing now.

Not interested in halo 360 title since I already have the halo collection. That is enough halo for me.

That is the weird thing about their push for BC, they have release these big remasters in collection form. Halo and Gears being the biggest and then Activision doing it with CoD.

Microsoft want you to by their console though so they won't release it in PC.

360 Halo Titles coming to backwards compatibility, Man... I knew there was a lot of Halo games, but I didn't think it was that bad.

Hahah, my incorrect title joke has ruffled some feathers, love it. Title should really have the correct name of the system though, not just the number 360.

Its because reading it the context wasn't clear, so it just looked like you were randomly trolling Halo. I get what you meant now.

Now I can play mediocrity, in ~4k~

Do you mean Halo 5 or Halo in general?

Halo 5, 1-Reach are tight.

I'll agree with you then.

Personal opinion I guess but it was the least fun Halo MP ever for me.

Wow some people seem to be really offended by a joke. It's just an opinion dudes. Anyways, i'd say Halo 3 > Halo 2 A > Halo Reach > Halo 1 > Halo 5 > Halo 4 in terms of multiplayer. I was surprised how fun Halo 1's multiplayer was once i got it on XB1

I feel like that point is raised too much. I play a game for a game and not to be a product based on books(which wouldn't have been made without the game anyways - even Fall of Reach which released before Halo 1 iirc). There's already been pretty good arguments made about how sprint is just a placebo effect considering they adjust the map size around sprint anyways. The travel time is just the same, it just looks faster. But opinions are fine, I just like classic Halo. Halo Reach's multiplayer was pretty fun though.

Halo had always been centred around that slower pace, it was part of its mechanics. Yes, faster paced games are more popular now (ie Call of Duty) so I get why people like it but, for me, it breaks the core gameplay of Halo - hence why I hated it.

shikamaru, Halo 2 DID use hitscan....

Bungies Halo was all about defensive maneuvers. You never felt like you were out of the fight because if you knew how to play, and someone started attacking you, you could easily get out of danger and try to turn the tide. That's what made the original Bungie games great.

The 343 games have decreased that ability in an attempt to COD the game up... and imo, it ruined what made Bungie's Halo what it was.

The multiplayer is still very popular. Especially for those playing competitive. Halo Championships are still a thing and quite a few people follow that on Twitch or Mixer.

Halo 5 multiplayer is the best in the series imo.

I thought most people liked the MP. I certainly liked it, and I heard no complaints from people in my circle. The campaign wasn't the best though. That's for sure.

I think I have played most hours of Halo mp in 5. Even if the story is pretty weak, the campaign levels themselves are nice so I've replayed the campaign a couple of times. Warzone (Firefight in particular) keeps me coming back. I haven't had time to play for a while but I have the cravings. Never short of players when I play.

Its appears to a be popular online title but we also live in world where the online audience is very split. Neither Halo or CoD titles are as popular as they used to be.
