The launch lineup includes:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog – The 1991 household classic that has remained at the forefront of hearts and minds since inception.
  • Phantasy Star II – The longtime fan-favorite RPG from 1989.
  • Comix Zone and Kid Chameleon – Two American titles developed by Sega’s in-house studio STI.
  • Altered Beast – The original Genesis pack-in title, a beat-em-up set in Ancient Greece that represents a weird and wonderful segment of the Sega catalog that is ripe for rediscovery.

Sega should make a Netflix style of service with their games. Varying from 8 bit, 16 bit, 32 bit, and beyond. Im tired of their focus on Genesis only.

Phones can handle Saturn easily based on how well a cheap Android phone can play PS1 games. Dreamcast on the otherhand has higher requirements but feasible if the emulator is well optimized. Even the dated specs of 7th gen consoles could handle 6th gen emulation.

Saturn emulation is apparently very difficult for the era of hardware it was part of. Something about it having multiple CPU's, weird texture mapping, extra processors devoted to specific tasks. Dreamcast emulation is actually better than Saturn emulation just because although the Dreamcast was more powerful, it was more straightforward.

@Salnax - True, but Saturn has already been well emulated and even works well on low end PCs.

Regardless of its unusual specs that puzzle has been solved. Saturn has been well emulated for numerous years.
