Rumor: Mass Effect Put on Hiatus

Rumor: Mass Effect Put on Hiatus - News

BioWare has decided to put Mass Effect on hiatus, according to four sources who spoke with KotakuMass Effect: Andromeda developer, BioWare Montreal, has been turned into a support sudio.

This does not mean there will never be another Mass Effect game, however, it appears BioWare will let the franchise sit for a while.

A number of BioWare Montreal employees were transferred to EA Motive, also located in Montreal, to work on Star Wars Battlefront II.

EA sent over the following statement:

Our teams at BioWare and across EA put in tremendous effort bringing Mass Effect Andromeda to players around the world. Even as BioWare continues to focus on the Mass Effect Andromeda community and live service, we are constantly looking at how we’re prepared for the next experiences we will create.

The teams in EA Worldwide Studios are packed with talent, and more than ever, we are driving collaboration between studios on key projects.

With our BioWare and Motive teams sharing studio space in Montreal, we have BioWare team members joining Motive projects that are underway. We’re also ramping up teams on other BioWare projects in development.

There will be much more to come from BioWare in the years ahead.

Allowing people to play the first 10 hours on Origin before reviews were allowed out was a terrible idea in retrospect. Because people are going to want to post videos (probably exactly what EA wanted) but nobody posts "Oh my god, this moment was so awesome and I just had to show you" they post "Oh my god, this bug is ridiculous and I just had to show you"

you mean Bioware Montreal has been turned BACK into a support team.
Poor guys. A bunch of fans of the series are brought on board to try and bulk the team up into something capable for handling their own production, from all the rumors we've heard the development was very troubled with lots of clashing with upper management and important people leaving, t he game's shipped before its finished, and the end of it all the publisher decides "This isn't working, no more full games for you" and those devs are sent off knowing the game they made ended up putting their beloved series to sleep.
There's no way we won't see another Mass Effect eventually, but I fear the publisher taking the wrong lessons from Andromeda's critical failure, like publishers so often do.

It is the hard work of a lot of people, so I will be respectful: I will blame the game designers and history writters though, a lot of people making games that are just not fun at all to play these days. A game is a game is a game and it is a game. Keep that in mind. Got be fun to play.

Andromeda was a good game. Some of the graphics were to be desired but it was great fun and good gameplay. Yet it wasn't in comparison to the first 3, they were so much better. Yet if they think they can do more with their new IP and Dragon Age, then fair enough.( both of which are way off sadly)

Hmm, is that a big plan to eat and close BioWare? EA Worldwide will collect all talented developers and close BioWare later on?
Such bugged release of Andromeda always look suspicious, but now it's looking as a part of big plan.
