Call of Duty: WWII Could Have Been Advanced Warfare 2 - News

Sledgehammer Games has been developing Call of Duty games for a while and Sledgehammer Games founders Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey revealed to VentureBeat that the studio puts it to a vote on what the studio will work on next.

There were many people at the studio that had preferred to work on a sequel on Advanced Warfare, instead of the recently announced Call of Duty: World War II

"At Sledgehammer Games, we believe that developers have to have passion for what they’re doing," said Condrey. "You want them to be invested in the vision and the game itself to get the best out of them."

Schofield added, "Every game we’ve done of Call of Duty for Activision, we’ve taken it to a team vote. You don’t always get a majority the first time, so you talk through the issues and the opportunities, and you address each.

"We were really proud of that game. And [we had to ask ourselves]: Did we want to do a sequel, or did we want to return to the roots of the franchise? And we wanted that to be a studio decision."

Condrey added that if he and Schofield agree on the idea it can have an influence on the rest of the team.

Call of Duty: World War II launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on November 3.

The massive backlash and the "dissapointing" sales probably changed they direction. But I feel like they should have been something different. If they wanted to bring an old conflict that feels new, what about the Korean War (1950-1953)?

In my opinion Adwanced warfare was better then Infinite warfare, BOIII and Ghost so the best Cod of the last years with a great Story a funny Zombie mode where you are able to fight a lot of Zombies if your Skill is good enough and nice Multiplayer, i think most people dont understand and dont used the movement sytem right so that the BOIII and the other one are got futuristic but without these complicated but funny/ Skilly movement system.
I want to see the game then i played the first call of duty and never forgot the misison in Stalingrad at Cod 1 so im excited for a new ww2 shooter with the ne power of hardware!

Should've saved WW games to Treyarch......and modern for IW, and futuristic for Sledgehammer. But oh wells.
