Almost a million at release, achieved by an updated version of a game, whose franchise has had other four games on the same platform. There's no way Capcom is going to skip the Switch for the next Monster Hunter (which, I bet, will be this version HD updated, also possibly with a PS4 port too).

If Monster Hunter comes to Switch, it's a wrap. PS4 port would make sense, but I wonder if Nintendo and Capcom have some kind of agreement or else we'd been had a Monster Hunter on PS4 or even Vita by now.

I think Nintendo managed a deal with Capcom to make the MH series exclusive to the 3DS, but now that the Switch has come, I doubt that agreement can last that long. Specially with the massive installbase the PS4 has. A multiplat makes too much sense, and it would make everyone happy.

True but Nintendo would be incredibly stupid not to try to get a new exclusivity deal for the Switch, which Capcom might agree to... especially if there's money involved ;)

@Darwinianevolution: "Specially with the massive installbase the PS4 has."

Internationally? Yes. In Japan? No. <5 million install base for Japan is not massive, even if PS4 is the most successful home console this gen. Regardless, PS4 in Japan has the type of people buying it that would jump all over MH, methinks, so I think Capcom should put it on the console (barring exclusivity deals).

@ Vertigo-X. Well, Capcom is always saying that they want to expand their brand in the West, so a port on the main current gen console would do well there.

The 3DS reaches it's end of life. I hope a successor in form of a smaller Switch releases soon.

<850,000 sounds a little weak for a 3DS Monster Hunter title in Japan. Compare that to Monster Hunter X's opening in that country. It's a lot better than Stories, though that was a cruddy spin-off.
