Voice Recording for Final Fantasy VII Remake's Main Story Almost Finished

Voice Recording for Final Fantasy VII Remake's Main Story Almost Finished - News

by VGChartz Staff , posted on 22 February 2017 / 6,650 Views

Gematsu is reporting that, while speaking with Dengeki PlayStation, Final Fantasy VII Remake's producer Yoshinori Kitase has said that they've almost finished recording the voices and dialogue for the game's main storyline, although it's currently unclear if he meant for the first segment alone or not (Square Enix plans to release the remake in several instalments):

“A remake of Final Fantasy VII required substantial preparedness. The voice actors have almost finished voice recording of the main story. Fans may have the image of the Cloud from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, but since this is the ‘prime’ Cloud from before Advent Children, the performance may feel fresh.”

In other Final Fantasy VII Remake news the development team has just released some new screenshots for the title.

It seems it wont be released this year. Square Enix always announce their AAA game too early. They should learn from Bethesda. FFXV, Kingdom Heart 3 and now this.

Now they can finally focus on creating a videogame, because from the looks of it they think they are directing a movie. Have zero interest in this remake, sadly.

What have they shown that gives you that impression? To the best of my knowledge all they've shown is a few gameplay and cutscenes clips, and all of the latter were based on cutscenes from the original.

I also want to know what gives you that impression.

Well, my impression is based on the fact that we still don't know a release date, we have heard conflicting messages -- of which the most recent is that the game will launch in several installments about which we know very little to nothing. Gameplay wise, it appears that they have eradicated almost everything that purists like about the series, and have turned what is arguably the greatest game of all time into a boring Kingdom Hearts meets Final Fantasy XIII hybrid. This game is not what Fans of FFVII asked for, nor do we care much about the voice acting either. We need information on the actual game, rather than more messages that indicate that Square Enix only cares about the thin veneer of polish in what might well be another turgid entry in the once incredible Final Fantasy series.

What you describe seems less like reasons for it being a movie, and more just why it doesn't appeal to you. That's fine, not everyone is going to like the changes, but that isn't indicative of an inherent problem. I for one am looking forward; the original still exists for when i want the pure experience, and i'd like to see what their new approach is. I might end up hating it, but a big part of what i love about Final Fantasy is that it has no firm gameplay standard. Every core entry in the series for the last 15+ years has present dramatic gameplay and/or design shifts. I like that they try, even if i don't always like the end result.

I agree they've been inconsistent with some of their messaging, but that's to be expected of a game that was announced so early. That's not a problem for a movie, but a game has a lot of moving parts outside of plot that need to be finalised. I think they should have waited until E3 this year; i expect they did it to bring more attention to the brand, and by extension FF15.

That's fine. You always have the original. No need to bother complaining about remakes. It will find an audience without you :)
