Nintendo Switch Announcement Trailer Was Designed to be 'Easy to Digest' - News

Nintendo in the latest issue of Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream, and translated by Nintendo Everything, discussed the reason behind the Switch name and the point of the announcement trailer.

"We decided that this name would be the best fit for our product for two reasons," said Nintendo. "It represents one of the defining features of the Switch, the ability to seamlessly ‘switch’ between the TV screen and Switch’s screen, while also embodying the idea of being a ‘switch’ that will flip, and change the way people experience entertainment in their daily lives."

The point of the announcement trailer was to make it easy for everyone to understand how the console works and how easy it is to switch between playing on the TV to playing on the go.

"We wanted to show people just how much of an enjoyable difference it will make in their entertainment experiences, by having them see and hear for themselves what it can do in an easy-to-digest manner," said Nintendo. "It allows people to enjoy a home console experience not only in front of a TV, but in rooms with no TV, or outside altogether. And because the controllers are detachable from the main body of the console, each of its forms offer different play experiences for people to enjoy."

Nintendo will be holding a full unveil of the Switch on January 12.

It was a great reveal trailer, certainly hit home in a way that Nintendo was never able to do with the Wii U, largely because you can tell right off the bat the Switch is its own thing, unlike when the Wii U was first revealed and looked like it was an accessory for the Wii.

Yeah, they marketed it very poorly. In hindsight, they should've called it something else.

They should call it Swiitch.

It was a really good trailer, it seems that they've learned from their mistakes with the Wii U

Its one of best trailers Nintendo made, so clear and simple.

Told me what I wanted to know about how it looked and played for the most part. No confusion on my end.

Here's what made it more successful than the Wii u- simplicity and directness. The majority of people were confused about the Wii U, clueless about what it is and how it works. For the switch, you gained the essential details without any words needed. I am very optimistic for the switch. I hope it performs well

I love that trailer. It said a lot, without saying a word.

They did a great job making it very clear what the Nintendo Switch is in the reveal trailer imo.

Message was loud and clear. Heck, there was hardly a language barrier.
