Report: Nintendo Switch Dock Increases Performance of Console - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 07 December 2016 / 6,931 Views

The Nintendo Switch will run at a higher performance when it is connected to the Dock, according to a source who spoke with LetsPlayVideoGames.

The console will connect to the dock via USB-C and the components will run at a higher clock speed in order for it to run at 1080p on the TV. An extra fan will be activated to ensure the console doesn't overheat.

Nintendo will hold an event next month to reveal more information about the Nintendo Switch.

So de dock doesn't improve its performance, it's more like the tablet, when connected to the power source, works to its fullest potential. When disconnected, the performance goes down to save battery. Fair enough, that will keep the dock's price low.

basically taking it off the dock underclocks it, and putting it back on overclocks it/puts it in normal mode. Kind of worrisome as I cant see how something the size of an ipad can even come close to the power of the xbox one/ps4, not to mention the scorpio, and in 2-3 years the next gen consoles come out...

It doesn't improve performance... It allows the games to display in 1080p.
