3.8 million people watched the live streams of The Game Awards 2016. That is a 65 percent increase over 2015 when 2.3 million people watched.

"It was encouraging to see audience growth both domestically and abroad for The Game Awards 2016," said show creator Geoff Keighley. "Our goal is to bring this show to as many gamers as possible, and this unique distribution approach continues to pay dividends. The interest and response to the show in China was especially exciting to see."

Nearly a million of the new viewers came from China due to a new deal with Tencent.

Thanks Polygon.
