Skyrim Might Not Release on the Nintendo Switch Despite Being in Reveal Trailer - News

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was shown being played on the Nintendo Switch during the reveal trailer, however, the game might not be getting ported to the system.

Publisher Bethesda told GamesIndustry the game is not confirmed for the Switch. Skyrim was used to just show off the partnership between Nintendo and Bethesda.

"We're happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video," said a Bethesda spokesperson. "While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future."

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on October 28.

The only explanation I have for this is Bethesda not being able to confirm it due to Nintendo's demands. Because featuring a game so much on a trailer when it's not even safe would be absolutely dumb for both parts.

Ninty decided to use a Virtual Boy strategy: it's hiring the best 3rd parties and getting ahead already burying millions copies of their games in a secret landfill. :-P

Oh goddamn it, has the backtracking started already?

Bethesda would get some heavy backlash from some fans if they didn't actually release it. The reality is though that the video almost certainly confirms that there is a current version of Skyrim being experimented on the Switch.
I think its almost a certainty at this point that Nintendo has a contract for the game and that there indeed is some form of NDA not officially announce software for the system yet

there would be no backlash as there fans arent really effected by Skyrim showing up on NS or not, they're probably covered for the systems they already own

does it really matter since i believe most of its fans will be getting it this 28th on PS4/XbOne/PC rather than wait for another 5 month later which still unknown whether its a better version or not...

What matters it that Nintendo talked BS in an advert, just like the others, Nintendo is not different, no need to excuse it because it is "different"

Why the bloody hell would we buy Skyrim on a Nintendo console anyway?

PC is the place to play Skyrim. Then XBox1. Then PS4.

Exactly - if TT can't even confirm they're bringing Lego games to this (which you can be 100% they will) there's got to be an iron-clad NDA they don't want to break.

An NDA stating that developers can't say if they are porting their own game in a specific platform? In what Universe? It seems to me it's more like the case they say "we can't announce specific titles at this time because we aren't sure yet if the handheld will be capable enough to run them"
