Rumor: Nintendo NX Compatible with Nintendo Smartphone Games

Rumor: Nintendo NX Compatible with Nintendo Smartphone Games - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 28 July 2016 / 8,547 Views

Earlier this week several sources claimed that Nintendo’s next video game console, the NX, will be a handheld with detachable controllers and can be hooked up to a TV.

The Wall Street Journal is now reporting from a source confirming the earlier sources that the NX is a handheld console hybrid.

The source also revealed the NX will be compatible with Nintendo smartphone games, such as Miitomo.

Nintendo NX is due out worldwide in March 2017.

Thanks NeoGAF.

Maybe to support sync miitomo character between phone and NX, to be able to use character as mii in games.

I would like to see they going all the way and giving us all the free-to-play games from the Android stores, there are some cool games there that are terrible to play because of the touchscreen thing.

If to say Pokemon Go was on the NX, would you require some sort of data plan for it then too? I wouldn't like the sound of that. That didn't seem to work well with the PS Vita.

Only because the only option with a US Vita was AT&T and they charged insane prices. There were a couple of emergency cases where I had to use it. That's the only time I bought it. 30 dollars for 1GB of data, or something like that. My Sim card is flipped upside down in my Vita right now. (So it's there if I need it)

Pokemon Go is NOT going to last that long. You think people in winter are going to want to walk around in snow blizzards and -5 degree weather, trying to catch Pokemon? lol.

Considerin Nintendo is using their smartphone apps to bring new costumers, it would be counterproductive to not allow those games to work on their own hardware. Plus, Pokemon Go on NX, that is great.

I've been saying that they would go after the best smartphone games for months. It seems obvious, as smartphone ports have been some of the biggest 3DS titles over the last couple of years.
