by William D'Angelo , posted on 29 June 2016 / 9,415 ViewsThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild needs to sell more than two million units in order to make a profit. The game will be a hit in Japan if it sells 300,000 units.
This is according to Shigeru Miyamoto who spoke during Nintendo's latest investor Q&A and translated by Twitter user Cheesemeister.
.@NStyles ...will be helpful in the next production. The costs will be recovered by selling in large volumes, passing 2m sales.
Miyamoto added that the game has 100 employees working on it and more than 300 people will be on the credits.
The development for Breath of the Wild will be helpful with the next The Legend of Zelda game. This could mean a shorter development time.

Seems like an easy target
i believe they make about 40$ a copy so 40x2,000,000.... 80,000,000. Thats.... that's alot. holy crap.
If they make remakes $50, they wouldn't make new games $40.
Esiar, publishers don't get the full $60 of a sale; the retailer gets a chunk, printing and labeling and shipping costs, licensing in some cases, etc.. They generally see maybe 30-40 per sale.
But yeah, really makes you wonder why some publishers have such lofty sales goals of 6m or 10m units, etc., and Nintendo is aiming for just 2m with one of its likely most expensive titles to develop.
I read their post wrong. I thought they said they believe they'll sell it for 40.
Don't think that'll be a problem;D
Hope you're taking notes Square Enix.
There's NO WAY it won't sell AT LEAST that much.
It'll probably sell that much on the WiiU alone.
Lol. I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually hit 10 million units. Easily the most hyped Zelda game since Ocarnia of Time.
It depends on how well the NX sells. It'll easily do 2-3 million on Wii U, but anthing further than that we can't predict until we know what we're dealing with regarding the new hardware.
So... 120 million dollar budget give or take?
More like half that after all the expenses of a retail game.
They really don't even need to market it that well. It's been well received all over the internet, garnering many game of show awards. People already know about the game. It'll do 2 Million in 2 weeks.
