What is Ustream even? is this the thing that people were using to broadcast sex and fights?

Ustream has been on a steady decline since Justin.tv and various other streaming APIs went offline. All the major gamers that streamed there moved over to twitch after it split off to become its own platform. I was surprised it was supported by PS4 to begin with

Too many people doing stupid things on it that got nothing to do with gaming. I'm not surprise by this and I think it's the right move.

They're not ending steaming. They're ending ustreaming. You can still broadcast anything you want via youtube.

Interesting, I wonder what prompted this decision.

It could be a number of things. Either UStream were not supporting it properly on PS4, not enough users to justify Sony to continue to use it or Twitch paid for streaming exclusivity.
