Gran Turismo Sport Will Not Feature Dynamic Weather or Time - News

Gran Turismo series director Kazunori Yamauchi has told GTPlanet in an interview the upcoming racing game Gran Turismo Sport will not feature dynamic weather or a day and night transition.

However, players will be able to set the time of day for races including during the day, morning and night.

"We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the framerate and the quality of the image *during* the race," said Yamauchi. "So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on."

Gran Turismo Sport releases in North America and Japan on November 15th, in Europe on November 16th, and in the UK on November 18th.

Dynamic time isn't needed in most cases, but the lack of dynamic weather is disappointing. Time changes slowly but weather can change very quickly.

I feel like this game is being held back by them trying to make it run on PSVR on the original ps4...

I often wonder if Kazunori's team is stuck in the past when it comes to video game design. Don't get me wrong, I respect the amount of work put into the GT franchise, I respect the numbers of it all, the specs, the attention to detail with the cars, etc... but I just feel like the team has little to no interest in presentation and instead care only for the fact that the cars match real world specs. Thing is, other companies seem to be jumping leaps and bounds on the presentation side while catching up with GT in terms of specs. So at the end of the day, I end up looking back at the PS2's GT4 as more impressive than anything I've seen on newer systems (in the world of GT) because they're just rehashing a lot of what they're doing, rather than stepping it up a notch.

Title is incorrect. There wont be a beta. This is about the full game. Never the less, it looks disappointing IMO. I am waiting for a proper GT7. I always buy one GT/generation, and this one wont be it.

I really don't get it. Polyphony Digital lost their way. They only make one single game as a studio and have Sony 's full support. OK ppl understood the limitations of ps3 hardware, but now with the power of ps4 they expected more of this beloved franchise. It seems that this studio doomed one of the most successful franchises by sticking to the past... And by today's standards handling/gameplay is not the only thing that matters.
