Ubisoft: No New Assassin's Creed Game in 2016 - News

Ubisoft has announced there will be no new Assassin's Creed game released in 2016. The publisher will be taking the time to re-examine the franchise.

"This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise," said Ubisoft in a blog post. "As a result, we’ve decided that there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016."

"Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, we’ve learned a lot based on your feedback. We’ve also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin’s Creed a premier open-world franchise. We’re taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we’re delivering on the promise of Assassin’s Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone’s playground."

While there might not be a new game in the franchise in 2016, the Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender releases on December 21st.

Great news. I like AC but every year is too much for a game like that. Fans are getting fatigued and those games would benefit from more polish.

Great news. It will give me a chance to catch up. Still have to play rogue and I haven't even bought unity or syndicate yet.

Same.
Once I finish Black Flag I will get Rogue and then Syndicate (skipping Unity). Can't keep up with early releases.

I suggest getting Unity, the patches fixed a lot of problems and the DLC is free. Its better then its credit for and dirt cheap.

Unity is the one I'll get after rogue but only when I'm ready to play another after I complete rogue. No point buying now when it will be a lot cheaper whenever I'm ready.

I hope this stimulates other studios to stop with the annual franchise bullshit.

What other games are you talking about? I don't mind an annual CoD because those are short games and are given about 3 years of development time. Annual sports games are kinda gross but I don't play them.

I played every main AC game every years from game one...but skipped Syndicate. I was a huge fan but it got stale. Hopefully they can add something to make it fresh again with the extra time.
