World of Tanks Shoots Past 1M Users on PS4 - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 05 February 2016 / 5,159 Views

World of Tanks landed on the PlayStation 4 last month and publisher Wargaming has revealed it has shot past one million users.

"It's barely been a month and already World of Tanks on PlayStation 4 has obliterated the milestone of 1 million users," said Wargaming.

"Players have taken full advantage of platform-specific features and awesomely exclusive content. Featuring optimized controls, it’s never been easier to jump into World of Tanks on console, and tankers can roll out with over 130 historically accurate vehicles from the USA, Germany and the USSR."

Anyone who has not played the game on the PlayStation yet will get the  limited edition Girls und Panzer Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. H Elite tank until April 30th. Founder's Packs are still available to help get new players started.

Have been playing it for a couple of weeks now, like ithis said took a bit to get use to the controls but has been good fun so far, can't beat sneaking up on an unsuspecting enemy tank.

WOT is not really a PC type game. It fits excellently with the couch gaming concept, and the only thing I have a problem with is going backwards and turning. But I had that problem with the PC controls as well as I remember, so perhaps it's me.

Agreed, its a game that found great success on PC. But I cant think of many if any successful games like it on PC.

A lot of these pc type games seem to be quite the hit on ps4. I can see a lot more developer support coming in future.

I wouldnt say a lot, which is why Sony sold SOE. However, online only games certainly seem to be doing better then ever this gen. Wotld of Tanks seems to find success on every platform its on.

OneKartVita OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

I meant a lot of the pc type games that release seem to do well. Can you think of many failures? Between the pc indies and this type online pc game they're doing very well.

The support is increasing so much more over last gen. I can see a ton more pc support for consoles in future :)

Chazore OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

Sony sold SOE because they felt it was dead weight to them and of course they cut their ties to supporting another platform and forfeiting their (already small) share of the pie.

A lot is pushing it though, there isn't 20-50+ PC games of this type on PS4 alone, even then there are a lack of indies "doing well" that aren't brought up at all.

Though I do think we're seeing both PC and console support from both sides.

Yeah those online pc games Sony were making didn't do so hot. They sold it and got out while they could. Now the new owners might get the dev team working a little better. One things for sure they'll be hoping to have the same kind of success on consoles as other pc devs are having.

It's just great. A whole new market opening up on consoles. Last gen it was the pc type shooters like battlefield becoming huge on consoles now it's the free to play games.

Chazore OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

The new Dev team making the game better just shows that they could do the job and not Sony, that actually doesn't make Sony look any better in that light. If someone else can do a job they decided not to bother with , well that's entirely on them.

Good success all around for both platforms, same with JRPG's finally deciding to come in droves to PC.

You see the new dev hasn't achieved anything yet so that's all pure speculation. For all we know they'll fall apart because their new owners might not have the patience Sony had with them. Hopefully the latter and they find success though.

Japanese games success recently isn't exclusive to PC either. Sony has some new found rapid growth in Asia and these Japanese games are doing excellent there.

I agree with you it's really great.

So no growth of any comparable sort with PC then?.

Just all up for Sony and kinda meh for PC?.

OneKartVita OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

What a very negative interpretation of my post. The pc and ps4 growth outside Japan with Japanese games is great for both. However it seems the Asian ps growth outweighs the pc growth in this market. it was just an observation.

  • 0
Chazore OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

So I was right about my "interpretation", that no matter what it;s better more for your pref but not the other market which only just gets some attention that yours has had for constant years. Typical.

"Both are the same, except they aren't when I say"

  • -1
OneKartVita OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

No I said it's great for both of them. I'm just stating the fact that Playstation sees more growth in the area. Please don't take such a negative interpretation of my post. It's not meant like that :)

  • -1
Chazore OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

nono see I'm not taking anything negative, I'm just pointing out there that you see it more as this:

PS4;70%
PC:30%

That's basically how your read it out as.

  • 0
OneKartVita OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

Yes because that's the current situation. I'm not going to pretend the japanese games on PC are selling gangbusters just to satisfy you. They're getting moderately small sales on Steam but enough to help out the publishers and make a difference. I only deal with reality and that's why my talk is real.

  • 0
Chazore OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

I never said your talk wasn't real, Iw as merely pointing out how unfair you make it all sound but when it suits you it;s like both are 50/50. Just like with the XCOM thread you make both sound 50/50 yet the reality says different.

Your talk is only as real as you allow it to stretch, sooner or later it stops becoming a "reality".

Here we go again! You keep trying to warped my views to suit yours. Like you're also in no position to take the moral high ground and say I'm not 50/50.

But you know what I'm not. The situation I discussed is 70/30 in favour of Playstation. Why would I lie and act like it's 50/50.

Chazore OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

"Here we go again! You keep trying to warped my views to suit yours."

Like you've been doing the same while trying to also take the high ground.

You still are mate, you're trying to take it right now, tooth and nail to the very end, no matter the cost.

The way I see it is that you've got a few titles from PC that we've had for a number of years while Japanese devs you've had for years are starting to show up on PC, either way both sides are growing and continue to grow. Only difference here is that one platform has been going for decades and well the other is going to stop living in a number of years, that is the huge difference to all this, one keeps growing, the other grows to a set point in time that has already been decided whether you want to like that fact or not.

OneKartVita OneKartVita (on 05 February 2016)

I'm taking no high ground "mate" I'm just speaking the truth. High or low ground the truth always prevails. I love how you say ps4 gets pc support while pc gets Japanese support. It's not a straight trade up. Because ps4 Japanese support is also improving big time compared to last gen. It's gains are much more significant than the PC's.

And now you've moved the goalposts and open a whole other can of worms. Yeah ps4 will have a limit but so will every pc gamers rig as they'll have to upgrade too. Steam, psn they all live on and keep growing. What's the difference. And with ps now Sony are obviously preparing long term.

If the PS5 is fully backwards compatible there's no difference between that and a pc gamer buying a new rig. (move to x86 it's very likely).

You clearly have a thing towards downplaying PC gaming (note I;m not even downplaying your console of pref but you're willing to downplay at every turn for PC, note Basil's Final Fantasy thread and how you sued mobile gaming after said thread).

PC gaming doesn't die like a gen does, that's a cold hard truth you're going to have to accept, I know whatever PS4 gets, PC will earn over time and add to it's ever growing collection because it;s a platform that hasn't died for decades.

PS5 will still be a console, and owned by a corp, still plenty of other differences to note as well. Stop trying to make unproven nonfactual claims that console and PC gaming will be exactly the same because it won't.

  • 0
OneKartVita OneKartVita (on 06 February 2016)

Non factual claims? Like pc will get everything Playstation has over time? So all its exclusive exclusives will come to PC? Please....don't mention non factual claims then come out with that. Pot kettle black. And don't call me biased when you clearly favor the pc.

And just to helped your warped view of console gens ps4 won't suddenly die and PS5 ,has to build everything from scratch. Ps4 will still get games as the PS5 grows. Anyway goodluck with your "everything comes to PC eventually ". Personally I prefer playing the games like console exclusives and Japanese titles as they release, not years later. Same goes for titles like gta. I don't play the waiting game.
