Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. These charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 Vs. Wii U Japan:

Gap change in latest month: 63,645 – Wii U

Gap change over last 12 months: 420,111 – PS4

Total Lead: 759,148 – Wii U

PS4 Total Sales: 2,261,079

Wii U Total Sales: 3,020,227

In its 26th month on sale in Japan the PlayStation 4 fell 63,645 units behind the Wii U. The Wii U is now 759,148 units ahead of the PlayStation 4 on total. Ass the above chart shows, other than the most recent month, the PlayStation 4 is gradually but consistently closing the gap. The PlayStation 4 has sold 2.026 million units, while the Wii U has sold 3.02 million units.

The Wii U launched in Japan on December 8th, 2012, while the PlayStation 4 launched on February 22nd, 2014.

If the line went down, then isn't that gap chance supposed to go to the Wii U?
