Welcome to the VGChartz Gap charts. These charts are updated monthly and each article focuses on a different gap chart. The charts include comparisons between the 7th generation and 8th generation platforms, as well as comparisons within the 8th generation. All sales are worldwide, unless otherwise stated.

PS4 Vs. PS3 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 2,358,302 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 5,097,784 – PS4

Total Lead: 14,190,092 – PS4

PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 31,502,771

PlayStation 3 Total Sales: 17,312,679

November 2015 is the 25th month of the PlayStation 4 being on sale. The gap increased during the month when compared to the PlayStation 3’s 25th month on sale by 2.36 million units in favor of the PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 currently leads by 14.19 million units.

Both consoles launched in November. The PlayStation 3 launched in November 2006, while the PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013. The PlayStation 4 has sold 31.50 million units in its first 25 months, while its predecessor the PlayStation 3 sold 17.31 million units.

It will be more interesting a PS2 vs PS4 graphic, since SONY its not competing with M$ or Nintendo in this gen anymore, but itself

The ps4 will outsell the Ps3 so easily! And it's undertracked aswell so the gap is even bigger

According to these latest charts, Xbox One is selling about as well as the PS3 did. Wasn't PS3 considered a flop for the first year or two as well?

Damn Sony, I wonder why they won't give up on the phone business. They should go full force in the gaming industry. They obviously have the huge lead over every other company in terms of home consoles.

Their phones are improving to be quite good, they had a bad/slow start with lots of issues which hurt their brand. I would like them to stay.

No! the PS4 won't outsold the PS3! This is not 2005, this is 2015! A new generation of gaming with Smartphone and PC on the lead!
