Final Fantasy VII Remake Producer: Content Would be Cut it if Wasn't Released in Multiple Parts - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 07 December 2015 / 4,961 ViewsFinal Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase, and director Tetsuya Nomura, have explained in an interview with Famitsu precisely why the game will be released in multiple parts, instead as a single retail release.
"The idea that a remake of Final Fantasy VII would not fit into a single release was there from the very beginning," said Kitase. "We still can’t share more information about its multiple parts, but please look forward to future announcements."
"If we dedicated our time to a single release, parts of it would become summarized," added Nomura. "We’d have to cut some parts, and additional parts would come in few, so rather than remake the game as a full volume, we decided to do multiple parts."
According to Kitase, the amount of work going into the game makes it impossible to cram the entire game into a single release:
"As you can see in the trailer, we showed Sector 1 and Sector 8, but in those areas alone, I think you can see a lot of density. When you’re remaking the entirety of the original version in that quality, it’s not possible to fit it all in one release."
Thanks Gematsu.

They are gonna charge you at least 3 times for the remake of one single game. Looks legit.
We really need to push back on these ridiculously stupid practises. 8th gen is turning into a nightmare. They're treating this shit as if its some Telltale game. Who care how long it takes!? Just make one complete product.
Is because they said that to Make a Full Remake of Final Fantasy 7, would take more than 15 Years.
What idiot would believe such a ridiculous lie? 15 YEARS!? Oh lord, how stupid are gamers today?...
So, swordmaster, does that mean all the parts won't be done for 15 years? So the last one or two parts may be on the ps5, and ps6? That makes it better.
wow, I can't believe that some people think that that the work that goes into making a game back in 97 is equivalent to what it is now. Saying that "Square was able to do it back then, so why not now" shows total ignorance. As if the two are equivalent, lol.
If this remake re-imagines the original FF7 in it's entirety, it would take 10 years to make.
I'm not thrilled that it's episodic either, but I also don't want to wait 10 years.
To the complainers out there who don't mind waiting for a "complete" version, by all means wait a million years for them to complete the last episode and release an all inclusive version.
on a side note to be fair, it was a BIG game. This isnt some glossed up remaster. They are literally making the game again from scatch. With Voice acting. Still sucks though
Open your eyes people. FFVII was a huge game! With the graphical power we have now, they'd have to release it in parts. Just like how the original game was 3 discs! Makes sense to me. Now stop freaking out about EVERY SINGLE ANNOUNCEMENT
OK So...we cannot release the full game in one release because "it's not possible to fit it all". Why can we not do multiple discs that we did 20 years ago? Or require internet to download the full content?
Really I think it boils down to time. If they were to release the full remake it would probably be years out, and they rather do it piecemeal so that they can make it a rolling release and have it in our hands sooner rather than later. I still think it is comical that they have issues releasing this in one release when massive games like Xeonblade or Witcher or Fallout have no issues.
Please...
i'm crying now
Perhaps much like original which had 3 discs, which they were huge contents.
The reason for 3 discs were the fmv's. Each disc actually contains the full game, but with different fmv files
Well there goes my hope.

I imagine their meeting was like "Hm...what if we put it on 3 discs...sold invidually...hey the PC version had four!...then we can add in DLC as well..."
So, over 15 years ago they released the complete game, but, the remake, of an old game is so massive, that they can't release all of it without cutting content, from the original game, that had all the content, in one release, over 15 years ago.... way to go sqeenix. You've killed any hype I had for this game. Shove your bs excuse up your asses.
They had me so hyped, and all the news last days I feel like... Never mind I Will wait for a "complete" edition or something, the game looks cool but... epesodic? -_- If they want to cut stuff, do it, tell the story and add stuff that enhances the game after that, its called DLC.. other people released that in the past, like horse armor.
I dont like it either. BUT lets see how much each part is. ANything more than 20 is BS
Somehow Advent Children was more playable than Dirge.
Thank you. Having my exact thoughts summarized like this from someone else has been very convenient.
