Nintendo Account Launches in Japan, Acts as a Single Account for All Nintendo Platforms - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 December 2015 / 4,242 Views

Nintendo has launched its new account service in Japan, called Nintendo Account.

The service is designed to unify your accounts across all Nintendo platforms into a simplified single user profile. All active Nintendo platforms, including the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and the upcoming NX will use the same account, and so too will Nintendo apps for tablets and smartphones.

Anyone who has a Nintendo Network ID registered in Japan on a Nintendo 3DS or Wii U can sign up for a Nintendo Account now. Your purchase history since the introduction of the Nintendo Network ID will be transferred over to the new account.

If you don't have a Nintendo Network ID you can also create an account using Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or any e-mail address.

There is no word yet on when Nintendo Accounts will be available outside of Japan.

Thanks Eurogamer.

Hopefully, the games you've bought on Wii U and 3DS can transfer to NX without any cost. Especially retro games that can be emulated so easily.

This is decade old stuff. Get with the times Nintendo.

Shouldn't you be saying "you're finally getting with the times Nintendo"? Telling them to get with the times would imply that they're not doing what the article says they're doing.

I hope this means that all my systems on said account can use all the games I buy, like Apple and Google play. That's what keeps me from going digital, I can't let my kids play it too if it's on my 3ds. Buy the cartridge, and they can all play. Otherwise, what's the point, really?

you can jason, but you do need to contact support for it, but they will put your games onto a new system if you break your current one.

The Truth was spoken! Then disliked :D To be fair I think there was no unified system between the 3ds and wii-u system back in 2012 so people are disliking it because it isn't correct, I'm not one of those 8 red thumbs but I do think the comment isn't correct! I normally take the time to say why I'd red thumb something tho.

Aye Truth, I do think 2012 Ninty definitely had both stores 100% separate from each other.
