PlayStation 4 Remote Play Heading to PC & Mac

PlayStation 4 Remote Play Heading to PC & Mac - News

by Craig S , posted on 27 November 2015 / 4,906 Views

Sony's President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, has confirmed that remote play for the PlayStation 4 is coming to Windows PC and Mac.

This will basically allow PlayStation 4 gamers to play PlayStation 4 games remotely via their PCs or Macs. At present you can only remotely access and control your PlayStation 4 via the PlayStation Vita, select tablets and smartphones, or by using an unofficial application.

Yoshida didn't reveal exactly when the functionality will become available.

You know the Xbox One already does this ... right?

Because he acted like it was an amazing new feature.. "Damn Playstation, They ain't playing around" .. Just pointing out its just getting even with XO.. (although Mac Support will be above what XO does).

Someone is in their feelings obviously! ;) Sony is doing something here. I didn't act like they were the first to do it. Just like I said in an article a long time ago that MS was playing around when they announced BC. Has it been done before....sure! However, it's new to Xbox, so I shouted Xbox out on it. Relax dude....

I remote play to my Xperia Z2 tablet through a official app all the time. Also, all Z series after Z2 also have it. So your statement isn't 100% correct.

In a way, this is Sony supporting Microsoft.

@Sprash
Windows is Microsoft's OS. Developing more functionality for the Windows OS means there is just more reason for your computer to run Windows.

Well Windows is really the only relevant OS on PCs. Sony publishes games on Windows as well.

This kind of one-ups the whole "PC can stream XB1" argument.

While Phil works on PC stream to X1 and X1 stream to PC which is going to one up things again.

That would be cool if they don't drop the ball.

I can't see them dropping it tbh, they have the first part streaming gong for them.

They also had a pretty good jumping point for the next Xbox. I don't think it is outside any corporation's ability to drop the ball, no matter how bright their future is.

Same can be said for the competition.

Cool, I remember Sony fans downplaying X1 for doing this. But clearly people want this feature. Up next, BC!

It's better because it's Sony (apparently). Not a system seller, but still nice to have.

Way to kill possible HOLIDAY sales of the PS Vita.. I was going to pick one up for REMOTE play.. but now. Will just use my Windows Tablet when the APP comes out..

Not sure how much this will negatively impact Vita sales. Really you should still pick one up. Lots of great games, and you could still use it for remote play. Wouldn't remote play on the Vita still be superior to using a tablet?

cpg716 cpg716 (on 30 November 2015)

I have the PS TV already.. and no.. The tablet would be superior.. Better screen.. and I could likely use a Dualshock3 or 4 with it.... instead of the gimped PS Vita conrtrolls.. I still will likely pick one up at some point.. maybe when they stll for $99.. lol

Oh, ok. I was wondering if you could possibly use a DS3 with a tablet, but honestly had no idea. I love my Vita but personally have no use for remote play. To each their own.
