[Updated] Rainbow Six: Siege Open Beta Delayed

[Updated] Rainbow Six: Siege Open Beta Delayed - News

Update:

True to its word, Ubisoft has now provided additional information regarding the delay, including identifying the key issue that's caused the postponement:

"Game sessions are not starting properly and we’ve encountered server issues, leading to failed connections. We’ve identified the root issue that was introduced after the Technical Test while fixing a separate aspect of the game. A fix is currently under test and will be deployed within the next few hours."

You can read the full update here.

Original Story:

The open beta for Rainbow Six: Siege, originally scheduled to start today (November 25th), has been delayed according to a statement on the official Ubisoft forums:

"We’re currently seeing issues with matchmaking times and disconnection on all platforms. As such we’re postponing the Open Beta until a later time and keeping the game under Closed Beta status. We apologize for the delay and can assure you this is our top priority. We will keep everyone updated regularly as we continue to deploy improvements."

This reflects reports from many involved in the early access open beta that the current matchmaking issues means you often spend more time trying to get into a game than actually playing.

Rainbow Six: Siege is scheduled to release on December 1st for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.

Looking forward to the first-ever post-release beta.

Predictable. If SWBF low sales are true, you can bet it was due to the ''open'' beta. I doub't Ubi will go ahead and make this open too.

But the SWBF beta was fun? Most people enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the betas of both games, though I got a similar nagging feeling from both that they weren't quite worth the standard full price of AAA games, especially in such a saturated market of FPS titles new and old. But I'm eager to get more time with Rainbow Six, so I hope this gets sorted out quickly.

I hope Ubisoft keeps doing this. They've made many unprepared games on release date over the past few years. Delaying will give a better reputation for the game, Day 1 DLC won't
