Harmonix: No Expectation for Rock Band 4 to Outsell Guitar Hero Live - News

Harmonix apparently isn't worried about competition with Activision's Guitar Hero Live and Rock Band 4 doesn't need to sell more in order to be considered a success.

"There's not ambition or expectation that we will outsell Guitar Hero, that we're going up against Activision," Harmonix's creative director and co-founder, Alex Rigopulos, told GamesIndustry.

"But we don't need to. We can actually have a very healthy business serving a much more modest core, a small fraction of the people who played the game previously, and I think we're perfectly content to do that, which frees us from the need to manufacture seven million units of peripherals."

Rock Band 4 hit store shelves yesterday for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while Guitar Hero Live releases later this month for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and iOS.

Hear that industry? Realistic expectations. I remember EA saying Dead Space 3 needed to shift 5 million copies just to break even, or that Battlefield would kill COD within a year or two. I mention EA mainly because that company has killed more franchises due to stupid sales projections than any other.

In comparison this is a much cheaper game to make than those titles and they didn't give a sales target either.

I'd buy RB4 if it was on Wii U.

Well it probably can happen but mad catz fucked you guys over and you don't even have enough copies for a good launch.

Not enough copies? They aren't sold out anywhere.
And how did Mad Catz screw them? I've no been following the RB4 news, so I actually have no clue what you mean on that.
