Yu Suzuki: 'I Could do With a Bit More Money' for Shenmue III

Yu Suzuki: 'I Could do With a Bit More Money' for Shenmue III - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 05 October 2015 / 6,685 Views

It looks like some compromises will have to be made with Shenmue III, unless Yu Suzuki is able to secure more funding for the project.

"I could do with a bit more money," Yu Suzuki told Eurogamer. "The game itself doesn't have to be gorgeous visually - a lot of the money these days goes into the graphics. If we perhaps compromise on the graphics and put more into the story, we can make a good game. The most important thing, to me, is that the game's interesting, and that it's something people want to play."

You can still back the project as part of the ongoing 'Slacker Backer' period using PayPal. Shenmue III has thus far managed to raise $6.38 million in fledged funding from over 70,000 backers.

"a lot of the money these days goes into the graphics"
I think that's the problem with many games these days.

Because sonys cheap ass won't pay anymore for it. Pay a few dollars to keep it exclusive, then beg the fans for more money to make it. Sounds great sony.

You don't know what you're talking about. Sony hasn't funded it at all. They couldn't because it would get them into a legal dispute with Sega. Which is why it was even on kickstarter in the first place.

And it's the same reason Sony isn't seeing a cent from the kickstarter money

Sony isn't funding a single cent of the game. All they are paying for is marketing the game, in turn for console exclusivity. Yu Sukuki's company is the one who is running the kickstarter which in turn is funding the game.

It's funny, when the game was announced there was a bunch of people giving sony credit for the games existence. .. but now no? And, how would sony paying for the game cause a problem? Nintendo paid for bayo2, and that was ok with sega, Sega still owns it. So what's the difference? Difference is, Nintendo didn't make them beg gamers for a handout.
