by Craig S , posted on 28 August 2015 / 2,973 ViewsIt's been rumoured a number of times in the past, but only over the last couple of days has the idea of a Shovel Knight Amiibo really picked up steam. Nintendo has now confirmed that it's happening.
Shovel Knight will be the first Amiibo figurine to come from an indie title, and the figurine will unlock exclusive content for the game on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, as well as future Shovel Knight releases.
The Amiibo will unlock cooperative gameplay for the Wii U version of Shovel Knight. The figure will also allow you to level up and customise Shovel Knight in both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game, and will introduce new and exclusive challenge levels.
“Creating an Amiibo that’s compatible with all current and future Shovel Knight games shows that our strong relationship with independent developers is constantly evolving, ” said Damon Baker, Nintendo of America’s Senior Marketing Manager of Publisher and Developer Relations
Shovel Knight can be purchased via the Nintendo eShop on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS for $14.99. Packaged retail versions of the game for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will be made available in North America this October.
