Fable Legends on PC Will Only be Available Through Windows 10 Store - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 27 August 2015 / 4,472 Views

Upcoming free-to-play title Fable Legends is set to be released on the Xbox One and Windows PC later this year.

However, it appears that the PC version of the game will only be available through the Windows 10 Store and so will not be on Steam.

This isn't all that surprising given that it's a first party Microsoft title, but will nonetheless come as disappointing news for some.

There's no word yet on whether any of the other Xbox One consoles exclusive that are heading to PC will be similarly Windows 10 Store exclusive, such as Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and Halo Wars 2.

Yea figured this is what's gonna happen but I don't think a spin-off fable game is really the killer app that will push a lot of people to the windows store. They need something bigger for better or for worse. Windows store is gonna be the new Games for Windows Live

No, Games for Windows competed directly with Steam. The Windows has a more casual focus like a mobile device market place.

I seriously can't wait for this. Glad I upgraded to Windows 10. So far had no issues (though haven't figured out yet what's so special about it)

If youre running an incompatible version of Windows, this sucks. For Windows 10 users though, there is no good reason to complain. That marketplace is installed on your computer by default. Its also a F2P game that requires an online connection. It doesent need Steam.

I don't think they will release any games on steam but rather exclusively on the store with Xbox. Sounds logical.

I thought that was clear when they first started announcing these cross play exclusives. These games will be exclusive to their platforms.

Oh yeah, THERE'S a killer ap, MS. Guess they missed all the skulls - including Microsoft's old Live platform - that Steam has piled at its door.

Ever used "add non steam game" before?

@Sharpryno: So that makes it so that you can download it from Steam, right? No? It's not the same? Then why did you suggest it? I don't think the issue is where you launch it.
