Sony has released its earnings report for the last quarter, which ended on June 30, 2015. Overall, revenue decreased by just 0.1 percent to $14.82 billion. Operating income increased 38.8 percent to $794 million.

The Game & Network division that includes the PlayStation business saw revenue increase 12.1 percent to $2.37 billion. Operating income skyrocketed 350.5 percent to $160 million. This is due to the strong sales of the PlayStation 4 console and PlayStation 4 software.

Sony shipped three million PlayStation 4 consoles. That is up from 2.7 million during the same quarter a year ago. To compare, Microsoft shipped 1.4 million Xbox consoles (Xbox One and Xbox 360 combined) during the same period.

Sony expects to ship 16.5 million PlayStation 4 consoles for the fiscal year. That is up from 16 million during the previous year and would bring PlayStation 4 shipments to 38.8 million by March 31, 2016.

Sony did not give sales figures for the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita.
