Spencer: Competition With Sony is Good for Everybody - News
by William D'Angelo , posted on 29 July 2015 / 3,937 ViewsIn an interview with Edge, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said that he believes competition in the video game market has been good for everybody.
"Sony does a really good job in [Europe], and they have a long history – long before we were in this business – and they’ve earned the success that they get in those regions," said Spencer. "I watch what they do because they do a lot of good things, and I want to make sure that we’re being smart about succeeding. And there are places like Latin America where Xbox does really well, and in the US the numbers keep going back and forth – it’s good competition which I think is good for everybody."
"Content-wise, though, I’m excited about this Forza, I’m excited about Tomb Raider, I’m excited about the new Rare game, Sea Of Thieves... And I think we can do more artful games that I have found resonate more. That’s definitely a focus for us," he added.

Keep up the good work Phil.
I'm glad is the head of Xbox. Dude seems like a really cool person. He acknowledges everyone and gives them props.
Good guy Phil giving credit where it's due.
Keep it up. Slowly changing the xbox image.
I agree, competition is very important. To bad it seems like there is only room for two players on the console market though...
It's pretty much impossible to dislike this guy. He's not just a PR robot like so many corporate leaders.
And I'm excited about 2018, when the XB2 will debut before the PS5. With Halo 6 as the launch title. Therefore, I will skip this 8th gen as its known.
Well duh. Gaming would be so screwed without competition.
PS2 Generation wasn't bad?
Since when was xbox strong in latam? They are more Sony than Europe...
What competition? I see a lot of PS4 sales and PS3, 360, Xbox One, 3DS fighting it out for 2nd place.
Always saying the obvious and is applauded lol if Sonys head said the same thing which has been being said for a long time now....I would feel the same way. Something you hear every developer say a 1000 times.
Arrogance is unbecoming when you're winning, it is plain ugly when you're not winning. Phil is talking a humble game and that's the only game he can talk without making the Xbox brand look worse. Would he be talking so humbly if the PS4/Xb one situation were reversed? Perhaps one day we might get to find out.
