1080p & 60 FPS Key Goal for DOOM

1080p & 60 FPS Key Goal for DOOM - News

DOOM's executive producer, Marty Stratton, has told GameSpot that getting the game to run at 1080p and 60 FPS is a key goal for developer id Software.

"We've always been at the forefront of saying we want our games to run as fast as possible at the highest resolution possible. So for us, that goal is 1080p and 60 FPS. Along with that goal, the mantra of our technology team is that we want to be the best-looking game out there at 60 FPS and 1080p."

Stratton went on to explain that "it isn't just a lofty technical goal", instead id Software believes "it's important to the feel of the game, it's important to the way our combat feels and our movement feels. It's got to be fast, it's got to be fluid, and it's all based on that. It really is a gameplay goal first and foremost."

DOOM, which was officially unveiled at E3 in June, is set to release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC next year.

Framerate should be the #1 priority. Visuals should be second.

Safe bet its gonna be 60 fps with a dynamic resolution. Which I'm fine with given its worked well in Rage and Wolfenstein.

nowadays, whenever i hear that a game is trying to do 1080p and 60fps, i assume the game will 1) have problems and 2) will not release at 1080p/60fps.

geez please please please just focus on frame rate. Once you get that right you can worry about better resolution. only fan bois that focus on the numbers care about whether it is 1080p or not, the rest of us just want a fun game that is consistent and performs well.

If MSGV's beautiful open world can do it, a corridor shooter(from what I've seen) should be able to.
