You Must Pre-order Fallout 4 on Xbox One to Get Fallout 3 Free - News

Bethesda announced at E3 that the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 would also come with a free download code for Fallout 3.

In a blog post yesterday Bethesda gave an update on the deal and announced that you will need to pre-order Fallout 4 in order to qualify for the offer, which will only be available for a 'limited time'.

A code will be sent as a message over Xbox Live in 7-10 days. It also seems that the pre-order must be for the digital version of the game, purchased through the Xbox Store.

Fallout 4 lands on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 10th.

This means that if you bought it digitally or you have a Fallout 3 disc, it will work around the time F4 releases or earlier.

Won't be able to pre-order this till later, so I won't be able to get Fallout 3 free. I'll probably buy it separately.

This is actually a really good idea. The largest amount of sales occurs around the time that the game is released. By providing an incentive to purchase the digital version of the game, you in turn reduce the number of used copies floating around and therefore increase the amount of retail games purchased down the line.
