Peter Molyneux Wants Other Developers to Test His New Game - News

22cans founder Peter Molyneux, speaking at the Guildford G3 Expo, has said he wants other developers to try out his next game. One of the key reasons for this being that he feels developers find it hard to assess their own games.

"One of the biggest challenges we have in development is assessing our own games," said Molyneux. "Why don’t we have an invite list for people to play the games that we’re working on? That’s very easy for mobile of course, and reasonably easy for console and PC."

"Why don’t we all be honest with each other’s games before they’re released? Because I know my games would be a quantum times better if they had experienced eyes looking at them. We’re not competitors, really. There’s seven billion people in the world – surely we don’t have to worry about competition," he added.

"I’m going to propose that within the next two months, the game that I’m working on, we’ll use as the first sample for this beta list. It’ll come out, you can play it, give feedback and report bugs, and we’ll use that as a launch platform for us collaborating together."

Molyneux also suggested the creation of a Google Group where studios could offer and request support. There would also be a 'Made in Guildford' logo to show off the collaboration between developers.

Thanks Develop.

I seriously doubt EA and Activision would get together to swap notes on rival yearly fps outings to be honest, the only ones I would see being invited to see a game early in its development would be non rivals because they're not in the same genre of game really.... which would of course mean they would not be experts to talk about that genre. I guess it is Molyneux tho, he's always been a bit mad I think.

Well here's an idea molyneux why don't you develop an online platform that does just that and allows developers test each others games.

Maybe Mylo was meant to be a virtual boy that would play Molyneux's games and tell him if they were fun!
