Dota 2 International 2015 Prize Pool Sets eSports Record of $15M+ - News

The 2015 Dota 2 International (also known as TI5) has set a new record for the largest prize pool in eSports history - more than $15 million. This eclipses the previous record of $10.9 million, which was set by last year's Dota 2 International.

The base prize pool for the event, which takes place between 18 pro teams on August 3-8 at the Key Arena in Seattle, was set at $1.6 million by Valve. The extra $13.5 million or so has come about via community contributions (in the form of a cut of the revenue generated by a purchasable in-game compendium for the event and other cosmetic DLC Valve has released for the game).

Players on the winning team are expected to walk away with well over $1.3 million each.
