Tanabe: 'Metroid Prime: Federation Force is an Attempt to Expand the Metroid Universe' - News

Metroid Prime: Federation Force is an attempt to expand the series universe, according to Metroid Prime lead Kensuke Tanabe.

"[Metroid Prime: Federation Force] is an attempt to expand the Metroid universe," Tanabe told Eurogamer. "As you can play with up to four players it wouldn't make sense to play as four Samus characters! The game will be focused on co-op, working together as a team with up to four players. And obviously it is available as a single-player experience as well."

There are different load-outs that players can pick. However, there is a limit to how much one can carry at a time.

"If you carry the Super Missile then you're classed as a Warrior type. If you have lots of Repair Capsules you could focus on being a Healer type," added Tanabe.

"I've always been thinking about having a battle between the Galactic Federation and Space Pirates. The Metroid Prime series fits between Metroid 2 and Super Metroid, as you may be aware. So it falls under that same timeline, but looking at it from a different perspective."

Tanabe also hinted that Samus might be in the game.

Nintendo is better off at stop making justification articles. People hate it. Live with it. Tweak the game and try to win those people back.

A chibi Samus? That's disrespectful to the character and fanbase.

The budget that they used to make this could have easily made a new 2D Metroid.

I'm down with that. The chibi look? That still has to go.

Oh, Nintendo, try to do it, make a non-regular Samus in the game, I dare you.
