CSR2 Announced, Heading to Mobile - News

NaturalMotion is working on a sequel to CSR Racing, called CSR2. CSR2 is heading to mobile platforms but the developer feels the game is up to console quality.

A soft launch will take place in certain countries in the coming weeks.

"With CSR Racing, the remit was to make this the best looking game on mobile. With CSR2, the remit is make it the best looking racing game full stop," NaturalMotion's CEO Torsten Reil told Eurogamer. "We have so much processing power we really can make it look amazing. We think we have console level, and in some cases we go beyond console, but it's still a mobile game. It's a big step, and we're quite proud of it."

"We have a lot of console gamers play our games in general, and the market for mobile games is the same as it is for cinema goers - if you watch a big blockbuster movie, that's our audience. The console market is smaller - they're gamers - but they're a subset of the cinema going market. I totally expect we'll have console gamers as well, but the way they play it will be different. One thing that's interesting, people think that's because it's a mobile game people spend less time on it - but it's not true. A successful mobile game will take up more time - about one and a half hours a day - so they're quite intense experiences," Reil added.

Which console is he suggesting that single car in a white room is going "beyond"? I'd love to see the full game running nicer than GT4 on the PS2 then I'd be impressed, but drop this next to Forza 5, driveclub or Project cars in action and you'd be laughed out of it.
