Reggie: The Reaction to Metroid Prime: Federation Force has Been Negative - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 01 July 2015 / 4,396 Views

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Amie has admitted that the reaction from fans towards Metroid Prime: Federation Force has been largely negative.

"What the fan at home saw was something in the Metroid Prime universe that they weren't expecting. The reaction has been negative. There's no sugar coating it," he told Mashable.

However, he asks that fans trust in Nintendo, and wants to reassure the Metroid fan base that those who have actually played the game enjoy it:

"This is an example where fans who aren't able to get their hands on the game may be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage. Everyone who has played what we are showing regarding Metroid Prime, they've come across really pleased. My ask is that fans trust us."

I'm not mad about this game for being a metroid spin off I am mad because they could be putting their resources into a new Wii U game. E3 had no new games for Wii U and actually took devils third away. That is what I was mad about anyway.

I wish they'd give Reggie the power to pursue western developers for western style games. This guy has to be totally frustrated with both is lack of influence and having to sell Japanese games to US consumers.

Fans don't want it. Even if its a good game Its not what fans want so stop pushing your consumers products they don't want and give the games they want. So simple. GIVE FANS WHAT THEY WANT! My God! This company is trying hard to make every possible mistake they can. No wonder Wii U and 3DS are Nintendo worst-selling console and portable. What's wrong with you, Nintendo?

I guess fans wanted the first Metroid game? No, it was a vision that the developer had and made something out of it. The artist does what it wants to do. The fans either buy it or they don't. The artist should never compromise their own creativity, even if it's not what the majority want.

It's not like Nintendo has constantly put out games that fans don't want to have. And 3DS is not a failure. It actually has hold up pretty well despite the mobile dominance. And it has one of the best (if not THE best) line up of games this generation (especially rpgs). Stop

Its not about the artist. Its about being cheap cuz thats what Nintendo is now. A cheap company. A proper Metroid game would have been expensive, time consuming and all Nintendo creates right now is little cheap games that could be in any minigame compilation, like Nintendo Land. They dont do what fans want because its expensive, big and risky. Nintendo thinks small. It behaves like a smart devices game developer, not like a multi billion company they are and consumers want the multi billion company behaviour from them. You can give all the excuses you want but you can't blame consumers for not liking the way the company is treating them. And yes, the 3DS is a failure. If your product can't reach or surpass the previous product something is wrong. The 3DS is Nintendo worst-selling portable ever. Nintendo showed to the world how profitable simple and casual games can be. Problem is the smart devices learnt the lesson and Nintendo market is collapsing. The more they insist in this strategy less consumers they'll have.

I dont object to the game. I think it became the focus of the negative reaction from a disapointing e3 which gave the impression that the wii u is abandoned for 2016. I was hoping and expecting to see fatal frame and some new 2016 anouncments.
