by William D'Angelo , posted on 03 June 2015 / 3,925 Views

Nvidia recently unveiled its latest GPU, the GTX 980 Ti, which supports DirectX 12 and 4K resolutions. Not to be outdone, AMD will be announcing its latest GPUs at E3 on June 16th.

The new Fiji GPUs will be revealed at its 'AMD Presents: The New Era of PC Gaming' event. The GPUs will use new VRAM called High Bandwidth Memory.

Thanks MCVUK.

AMD have a lot riding on this. Bar the 3 month delay, the rumours of the vast amount of rebranding is worrying, especially when Maxwell is doing absurdly well. I hope their HBM gamble pays off.

You do know most models are just rebranded.

Fiji series are not rebrands though. The die has already been shown by Lisa Su. It's approaching 600mm2. Today an R9 290X with 438mm2 die beats a 561mm2 GTX780Ti. That gives AMD a strong chance to make the world's fastest graphics card since they tend to produce more performance per mm2 when comparing like for like generations with NV. Titan X/980Ti are 601mm2 and don't have HBM either. AMD's card will have at least 512GB/sec memory bandwidth vs. 336GB for GM200.
