EA Expects Star Wars: Battlefront to Ship 10M Units by March 2016

EA Expects Star Wars: Battlefront to Ship 10M Units by March 2016 - News

Electronic Arts has told investors that it expects sales for Star Wars: Battlefront to be strong when it is released later this year. However, with the high licensing costs associated with the title the company doesn't expect to make a lot of money.

Star Wars: Battlefront is expected to ship between 9 and 10 million units by the end of the 2016 fiscal year (March 31, 2016). This is after judging the sales of previous games in the series.

Thanks VG247.

Oh wait...they're serious. With the hype train derailed as it currently is, I highly doubt it. But who knows, maybe people will buy into it. Wouldn't be the first time EA got unwarranted sales.

People are mistaking forums and IGN comments with the views of the general public...

If these corners of the internet were truly reflective, Assassins Creed Unity wouldn't of sold 6m on a combined userbase of only 30m. The most ridiculed game of last year has a 20% attach rate.

However, ACU was still significantly down on prior years. Plus 6m shipped isn't 6m sold.

BF3 sold 20m. BF4 sold 12m. BFH sold 1.43m (lol). 10m seems about right. Personally, I will be buying the game used, because EA doesn't deserve my money after the launch of BF4. The game wasn't half finished, and the netcode still isn't on par with BF3.

Bad comparison. Dice still has some credit left with gamers even after the BF4 rush fiasco. And Star Wars is a massive IP and the biggest one from the franchise (game wise) is without a doubt Battlefront. 10 million in 2 quarters should be easily attainable IMO ;-)

Easily.... people are laughing about this expectation, but if Dice delivers, this should be a foregone conclusion ;-)

No way, much more than that. I see this game nearing 15 million at least. Heck there are currently over 30 million next gen consoles out there now. I would imagine at least 40% of gamers at that time will buy this game.
