Microsoft has reported shipments for its Xbox consoles (i.e. the Xbox One and Xbox 360 combined) in Q3 of its financial year 2015 as being at 1.6 million units. The company made the announcement in its quarterly report, which you can read in full here.

The 1.6 million figure is a decline when compared to last year, when the firm managed to ship 2 million console units. This brings the Xbox shipment total up to 10.7 million units for the first nine months of the financial year (a slight increase of 100,000 units year-on-year).

Overall, Xbox revenue is also down:

"Computing and Gaming Hardware revenue decreased $72 million or 4%, primarily due to lower revenue from Xbox Platform, offset in part by higher Surface revenue. Computing and Gaming Hardware revenue included an unfavorable foreign currency impact of approximately 4%. Xbox Platform revenue decreased $306 million or 24%, driven by a 20% decline in console volume and lower prices of Xbox One consoles compared to the prior year. We sold 1.6 million Xbox consoles during the third quarter of fiscal year 2015 compared with 2.0 million consoles during the third quarter of fiscal year 2014. Surface revenue increased $219 million or 44%, primarily due to Surface Pro 3 units sold, offset in part by a decrease in revenue from other Surface devices sold...

Computing and Gaming Hardware gross margin increased $156 million or 60%, due to a $228 million or 14% decrease in cost of revenue, offset in part by lower revenue. Gross margin benefited from the mix shift to Surface Pro 3. Computing and Gaming cost of revenue decreased, primarily due to a $265 million or 27% decline in Xbox Platform cost of revenue, driven by lower volumes and a lower cost per console sold."

It's low because theres been no growth at all, and its pretty evident the Xbone didn't set the world on fire now after a price cut, and bundles.

Will they ever give us a sales update though? All they seem to give us is shipment updates.

My estimate is 1,100,000 for XBO and 500,000 for the XB360.

given the weekly sales difference between the 2 that doesn't seem very realistic, XBO is doing a lot more than double the 360 each week.

XB360 is undertracked in this site... according to VGChartz MS have some like +3,000,000 XB360 in magazine... that is seriusly impossible.
Probabily that XB360 is doing better in Europe/Rest of world, and even by a lot, if we considering that XB360 is overtracked by 2,000,000 in the US...

Proves the XB1 was overshiped during the holidays, but its still pretty bad. Microsoft needs to improve on this...

Wonder what the chances are of a $299 X1 slim getting announced at E3. They essentially relaunch the system. Might even make the next version stronger.

@captain_tom I wouldn't recommend launching a more powerful Xbox, it'll piss off the fanbase.

C'mon Microsoft you can do better than this.

So last year it was 2 million shipped for the 3rd quarter and then 1.1 million for the 4th quarter.

This year the 3rd quarter in 1.6 million. If this years 4th quarter drops as much as last year it could be less than 900,000 shipped.
