Nintendo: Amiibo Expectations Have Been Smashed

Nintendo: Amiibo Expectations Have Been Smashed - News

by William D'Angelo , posted on 23 April 2015 / 5,608 Views

Nintendo had originally hoped that its Amiibo figures would be a success, but the company did not anticipate quite how popular the figures would prove to be.

"Right from the outset we hoped that Amiibo would be strong, but even our expectations have been smashed," said head of consumer marketing at Nintendo UK, James Honeywell. "With a unique line-up of iconic characters that are loved by so many people, it really has been unprecedented."

Nintendo plans to ship more Amiibo figures in the future to help meet the demand, after originally failing to anticipate the number of people that would want to collect all of the figures:

"We hope to do a better job of satisfying these needs in the future with more stock, and, while there are always going to be some times when we can’t on certain characters, I suspect that is also part of the appeal.

What we hadn’t anticipated was the number of collectors wanting to get them all – this has seen demand exceed supply in some areas. Although, if you search around, you can still find some of the more hard-to-find Amiibo sitting on shelves."

Thanks MCVUK.

Yes, I hope so too. Somehow they´re adressing the problem slowly. Figures that once were considered rare, like Fox and Ike, Megaman and Lucario, are quiet common.

Of course. we can observe this by checking the supply. If they expected as much they supply, the expectations werent as big as demand.

Did it take them this long for their expectations to be blown? I swear we knew this since week one!

I'm just amazed by how well made they are. Regardless of whether you have any games that utilize them, they still are solid collectables.

Great news indeed! However, I just wish that some amiibos, such as Shulk or Lucina, could meet demand like the other variants.

I think we all figured that their expectations were blown away by this point.
