Nintendo has released just 3,000 limited edition Gold Mario Amiibo figures at Wal-Mart in the US. Unsurprisingly, given the limited release, a number of people have opted to sell them on using eBay. Prices on eBay consistently reach £100.

The gold color is the only difference between the limited edition Gold Mario Amiibo figure and the regular Mario Amiibo figure. The Amiibo works with several Wii U and 3DS games, including Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8.

With a price like that you'd think they were actually made of gold.

Well, actually, this one is a collectors edition. It was made to be rare.

It is rather easy to find a Mario Amiibo if you want one. The problem is when Yarn Yoshi or jigglypuff follow the same path.

So you think Nintendo are the ones turning the profit on ebay from selling these? or do you think that Amiibo's were released with this golden mario missing from their content that you are expected to buy to enjoy the full thing? It's so hard to even try to draw a comparison between these two things I'll just add to your red thumbs instead, faster.
