The War Z Removed from Steam, Refunds Issued - News/ 1,509 Views
The controversy with The War Z continues. Earlier this week, Hammerpoint Interactive's open-world zombie title launched on Steam, described by the developers as a "Foundation Release", which would be be updated with new features over the coming months. However, many users were upset that the game's store description detailed many features that were not present in the game, even following an updated description the next day. As a result, many buyers voiced complaints of false advertising.
In light of this controversy, Valve has decided to pull The War Z from their Steam distribution service, as well as offer refunds to those who purchased the game who do not wish to keep playing.
"From time to time a mistake can be made and one was made by prematurely issuing a copy of War Z for sale via Steam," said Valve in a statement. "We apologize for this and have temporary removed the sale offering of the title until we have time to work with the developer and have confidence in a new build.
"Those who purchased the game and wish to continue playing it via Steam may do so. Those who purchased the title via Steam and are unhappy with what they received may seek a refund by creating a ticket at our support site here."
