Video Games Worse than Guns According to US Senator - NewsVGChartz Staff, posted on 30 January 2013 / 2,103 Views
Earlier on today whilst speaking to MSNBC's The Daily Rundown, Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander has suggested that "video games is a bigger problem than guns". Why does Lamar think this? It's simple really. It's because "video games affect people". That's right folks, video games are worse than guns because they affect people.
When I say that this man appears to be rather uninformed, you may argue that I'm biased. Which I certainly am. However, to suggest that games are worse than guns because they affect people does - at least to me - seem to be a rather foolish argument. The only thing this statement has achieved is to highlight the fact that some politicians fail to understand that this issue is extraordinarily complex, and that it will not disappear if they attempt to use video games as a scapegoat.
Unfortunately this will only serve to add more fuel to the fire. Perhaps what's even more worrying is the fact that the games industry has to try and defend itself against people who seemingly make no attempt to understand the industry and the experiences it provides.
Can the games industry defend itself against ignorance? I fear we're about to find out.
